Do you agree with the Republican position that the Federal Government should eliminate mail service to rural?

portions of the country?

The reason the US Postal Service has higher costs than a lot of private sector carriers is because the USPS provides service to a lot of areas that private sector carriers do not.

B Question: Do you agree that 90 miles is a reasonable distance to drive to reach a post office?Do you agree with the Republican position that the Federal Government should eliminate mail service to rural?
USPS is a staple of our society imo, so no... I don't agree.
Early last month, the USPS announced that they would not be making contributions to their pension fund in order to cut costs. If this (along with $7.5 billion deficits) isn't an indication of how inefficient the postal service is, then I don't know what is. And I can't find any reference to a Republican recommendation to eliminate mail service to rural areas. Where did you acquire this information. I'd be curious to read it. The only thing I can find is a proposal to reduce the frequency of deliveries.

And the major private carriers (UPS, FEDEX) do deliver to rural areas. They simply do a better job of factoring those deliveries into their costs.Do you agree with the Republican position that the Federal Government should eliminate mail service to rural?
Due to the financial position of the post office currently, they do not have much choice

Not necessarily eliminate, but there are many VERY small towns that do not need post offices, and could drive 5 miles or so to the nearest one
We are proposing that 1 or 2 days a week get cut out for mail delivery and you spin it to "you ain`t never ever getten another piece of mail for the rest of your life" scenario.Do you agree with the Republican position that the Federal Government should eliminate mail service to rural?
Why don't they just refuse to deliver fliers instead? 90% of mail delivery would be cut and everyone would be quite happy.
I have never heard either of these positions advocated.
No, USPS is self-sustaining anyway. reason it hasnt been shut down yet
no. Alot of those people don't have phones or computers so it wouldn't be fair.
if they do that, how will half the Klan get their sheets?
