Is mail service usually slower over the weekend than during the week day?

why, and how this depends?



if you send a letter with a 1st class stamp in the mail...on friday..how likely is it to arrive in same city on SATURDAY? or will most likely not arrive till monday,,since it is friday night sorting and not a regular week day night?

If you're in the UK, the postal service is now totally useless and unreliable. I have just had a cheque posted to me from an address 15 miles away, first class. It should have arrived the next day. It actually arrived five days later.



If you send it on a Friday, I wouldn't count on it arriving until at least the following Tuesday, but who knows, you may be lucky?Is mail service usually slower over the weekend than during the week day?
I don't know where you live but most places only have mail pick up and delivery Monday to Friday.
